On Panopticism
Quarantine in a leprosy-ridden town consisted of each family being locked inside their home from the outside, by a syndicate. They were to provide for themselves with provisions they had prepare, for 6 days until the perfuming . Living in a modern pandemic, this seems like a joke. I understand that perfumes can make seem one like the bad smells or diseases have been defeated; but we have to quarantine for at least fourteen days. If the same thing applies to leprosy, they are simply re-exposing themselves too early to the disease. The Comparison between the leprosy-causing plague and covid-19 of the 21 st century is quite interesting. I cant say that we have been monitored as closely as plague towns would have been. In new York city, there is simply too many people and different type of architecture for a panopticon type of monitoring to be possible – unless there was a medium between police and Department of Health ages, that rode on million dollar firetruck ladders
